Control??

I honestly do not believe that many Americans could actually recite the 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution despite the fact that it has been a focal part of hundreds of news stories over the past few years.  So let me share:

AMENDMENT II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.
Our founders were wise men and realized that if you truly want to keep a government from becoming tyrannical then you best make sure that the people could always defend themselves from the government.  The meaning behind the 2nd Amendment has pitted quite a few people against the defenders of the Constitution.  Let me be clear in not only what I believe but what is the truth.  Anyone who has studied and respected history should be able to conclude that our forefathers meant for individuals to own and keep arms.  Our government over the years have started to control this right through a number of methods, registration requirements, carry restrictions, and now we are discussing what kind of guns can someone legally own.  Worse yet the so called media loves to dramatize every situation to fit neatly into the liberal agenda.  There has been a number of people who point to the disarming or incredibly strict gun laws in Australia as a model that the U.S. should attempt to intimidate.  That notion is ludicrous to me.  Our society is nothing like theirs.  As I sit here and flip through the news stories I find no end to the number of violent crimes that have nothing to do with guns nor are there guns anywhere in the perpetrators reach.
What I have in my home is my right.  The guns I own, I own with pride.  I have the right, given to me by my fore father's to bear arms. I have the right to defend myself and my family against ANYONE who threatens our safety (and yes that includes the government.)  I am at least blessed enough to live in a conservative small town in the midwest where our local government officials still pray before their meetings.  Though I have to worry how long this will be continue as the hard core destroyers of this country, the liberalist idiots who confuse religious freedom with freedom from religion.  Seriously?  Our we so stupid to believe that if we as a people turn our backs on God that we will not fall?  Our fore fathers were strong believers and our very Constitution was written by believers.
Pay attention to the truth.  Do not let your rights be stripped away under false pretensions. Read the Bill of Rights, read the Constitution, and above also read your Bible .. learn the truth for yourself do not rely on the media to spoon feed you what it wants you to know.

Unplugged ..

There is this trend in our society that for a time I openly participated in.  It is this tendency to have to be two inches from your cell phone at all time and let's face it these are not cell phones anymore these devices are mini computers.  The so called smart phone is dumbing the heck out it's users.  I can say that because I was one of those people.  There is an application for practically everything.  Grocery list .. no problem, punch it into your phone.  Want to know how many calories you ate? Just plug it in and the magic little phone will tell you if you ate too many or need to exercise more. No need to memorize your friend's phone numbers you can just scroll look for their picture and hit call.  I actually grew up with all my best friend's phone numbers memorized.  We had to actually call one another and speak in full sentences, using no abbreviations.  There of course is more your phone can do.  Link your phone to your twitter and your Facebook so you never have to miss an update from your friends again.  I do not know how we can live without knowing who is at the grocery store, who is making supper, or see the latest jokes instantly. It is a bit out of hand.  I know 10 year olds with smart phones and a 75 year olds who is playing words with friends on their new iPhone 5.  We are taking the human interaction our of our lives and replacing it with these tiny screens.

Somehow I managed to grow up, go to college, and travel on interstates all the time without the assistance of a phone.  I have no clue how we ever survived.  No need to own an atlas in your car, just plug in your destination and your phone will tell you how to get there.  I actually remember the days when you had to look at the map yourself, or heaven forbid, stop at a gas station and ASK for directions.  Don't believe it is making people stupid?  Then read this article regarding people blindly trusting the GPS units (like the one's in phones).

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120578983252543135.html.html

The problem is much bigger then people becoming dependent on their phones.  It is robbing people of real time with one another.  Go to a theater and see the lit up screens all having to double check they haven't missed a text message or go out to eat and see how many patrons are carrying on two conversations at once, one on their phone and one with the person across the table who is most likely also dividing their attention between the phone and their dinner partner.

I do not have room to talk, I am guilty of the same stupidity.  I had an expense phone with an expensive monthly bill, all so I could play games and check the weather.  I evaluated my life and priorities and you know what I choose to live.  I choose to spend more time with my husband and kids.  I choose to spend more time actually doing things not just pushing a button.  I choose to walk away from the media induced hype of having to have the bigger, better, faster phone to make my life easier.  I want a simpler life.  I want to work in our garden, use my sewing machine, read a real book, and teach my kids how to read a road map.  I do not need the constant distraction of a phone.  I personally rather thumb my nose at this phone addiction and be me again.  I believe it was worth the disconnect fee.

So to all of you still plugged in .... I hope you do not let life pass you by.

Excuse Me - NOT

The truth of matter is that I spend a great deal of time attempting to not offend anyone.

I work with the public so of course if is imperative that everything I say or do is not  somehow offensive or they may file a complaint effectively jeopardizing my job.  So there you have it from the time I hit the door it is performance time.  Smile, nod your head, bite your tongue, and do your job.  Why?  Simple have to collect a paycheck.

The bad thing is that most of the time it is not on politics or religion I am silent on as neither is really an issue where I work, so what has me biting my tongue?  As dumb as it sounds it is the fact that I am more and more overwhelmed with not wanting to listen to people complaining.  People can get so wrapped up in other peoples business it is not funny.  When did we become a society full of people who are obsessed with our neighbors, or our neighbors neighbors?  We care more about what the heck some fly by night, unmarried, glorified porn star names her baby then we do about our Constitutional rights being stripped away.

In a quick condensed few words I guess I am tired of it.  I am tired of being called the silent majority.  I am tired of not saying what it is I really am thinking,  so I guess I plan on doing that on here and well if someone does not like it they can be offended or here is an idea .. Don't read it.  Yep, that is right I no longer care if somewhere out there some bleeding heart, feel good, politically correct, liberal does not like what I have to say.  I am going to say it or in this case write it.
